Detroit Diesel Texa Question

  • I noticed that the Texa software had a download and upload option for programmable parameters on Detroit Diesel engines. Assuming the ECM still communicates and needs replacement has anyone used this to install a new one? Not sure if the ECM comes blank or just needs to be configured. I have never replaced a Detroit ECM, was never able to justify the expense difference for DDDL.

    Thanks, Matt

  • Hey Matt, I believe the Detroit ECM's come blank and need to be programmed. The function inside of IDC5 is to download a template of all parameters to a file so you can program them back into another ecm or the same ECM depending on what you are doing. But unfortunately you will still have to get it programmed first with DL8. We do have an RPK which will allow programming of 07+ ecms.

  • Thanks, that is what I thought would be the case. The remote kit is the best option here, thanks!
